A 4-year-old girl was walking with her mother on Holland Avenue when she was struck by a taxi and broke her leg, according to authorities.

No charges will be filed in the crash involving 4-year-old Genessi Hernandez, who was walking with her mother eastbound on the shoulder of Holland Avenue in Gainesville.

Socorro Robles, 50, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet HHR taxi westbound at the same time.

“The pedestrian crossed the street heading north then turned around to head south when she was struck by (the taxi) in the roadway,” according to state patrol.

Genessi was flown to the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta for what state patrol considered “non-life threatening injuries.”

She had just turned 4, said Jessica Jara, 17, who lives on the street and was in the area when the girl was hit by the taxi.

The child was shocked by the impact and her legs looked scratched and damaged, Jara said, but the girl only began to cry when her mother ran to her side.

Reporters Nick Watson and Nick Bowman contributed to this report.
