Two elderly Northeast Georgia men, who earlier this year pleaded guilty to conspiring to purchase illegal weapons and explosives, were sentenced Wednesday to five years in federal prison for their role in what a federal judge in Gainesville said was no doubt a terror plot. The punishment handed down to Emory Dan Roberts, 68, of Toccoa, and Frederick W. Thomas, 73, of Cleveland, is meant to set an example for others with similar plans, Judge Richard Story said. The men have already spent nine months in the Hall County jail.
