Striving to provide more options for the many people who host events at Lake Lanier Islands, the resort complex invested $1 million into renovations of its venue, Peachtree Pointe.
For decades brides and grooms have flocked to the lakeside location to get married, and people have used the space for private events.
Missy Burgess, Lanier Islands director of public relations and marketing, said the idea to renovate Peachtree Pointe was inspired by the need for extra venue space. She said the resort wanted to be able to accommodate its increasing number of companies and groups that use the facility for meetings and events.
With the recent renovations, which took around six months, the once open-air pavilion is now a closed climate-controlled space that can hold more than 500 guests.
“We always had a big pavillion up top,” Burgess said. “It was outdated and still had concession counters. We were looking to do something on the island where it would be more multi-use.”
The 8,500-square-foot facility additionally received two commercial kitchens, updated restrooms and a covered terrace. Burgess said the pavillion can be divided into two spaces by a movable wall.
Burgess said the venue’s amphitheater wasn’t touched during the renovations because it had already undergone improvements around five years ago.
With the new additions to Peachtree Pointe, she said Lanier Islands aims to cater to audiences beyond its corporate customers. Since the space can be closed off with a security gate, the venue can be kept private.
“It’s a unique venue, you can create any kind of event you want to, from a business meeting, to a festival-type feeling,” Burgess said. “...We’re hoping that it will be a new space that people would consider, not only for meetings, but family reunions, graduation parties and more.”
