A Lula man arrested on heroin trafficking charges has now been placed under an immigration hold.

Authorities arrested a man who gave his name as Antonio Arellano Torres, 49, on charges of trafficking heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and trafficking in opiates/morphine.

During a Wednesday search of the suspect’s Whitehall Road residence, authorities found 1 kilogram of heroin, two 9 mm pistols and one .22-caliber rifle.

Agents discovered Thursday that the suspect gave the wrong name; he has since been identified as Mateo Pineda Perez, 46. According to a press release distributed by the Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad, it’s been determined the suspect has been illegally residing in the United States.
