Hamilton State Bancshares, which has two banks in Hall County, has been acquired by Moultrie-based Ameris Bancorp, the parent company of Ameris Bank.

The transition and conversion of Hamilton State Bank operating systems, accounts, services and signs to Ameris Bank will be completed at a later date, according to a press release from Ameris on Monday, July 2.

Until then, Hamilton State Bank account help will only be available at Hamilton locations.

“Customers will continue to receive regular communication specific to the transition,” the press release states.

Hamilton State Bank has 28 branches. The Hall branches are at 854 Washington St. NW, Gainesville, and 3607 Mundy Mill Road, Oakwood.

Hamilton customers “will have access to expanded commercial, equipment and real estate lending options, cash management solutions, preferred lending status … and in-house residential financing,” the release states.

Ameris Bank CEO Dennis Zember said, “Atlanta and its surrounding areas are important and significant markets for Ameris Bank. The acquisition of Hamilton State Bank allows us the opportunity to further serve our customers in the area and expand our scale in the North Georgia market.”

Hamilton State bankers “will be a great addition to the Ameris Bank family and we are excited to have one integrated team,” said Ameris Bank CEO Dennis Zember.

“Our customers are our first priority throughout this process and we are committed to ensuring that this is an easy and informative transition for all.”

Robert C. Oliver, chairman, president and CEO of Hamilton State Bank, said, “Like Hamilton, Ameris Bank prides itself on being a strong community bank. We are pleased to have the opportunity to offer more resources and innovative products that will benefit our customers.”
