Hall County parents preparing to register their children for school for the first time should take note of a few dates.
Kindergarten registration for the next school year in the Hall County School District will be held in March, with pre-registration at each Hall elementary school from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 22-24.
An evening pre-registration period will also be available from 4-7 p.m. March 24 at each school.
Parents should bring enrolling kindergartners for a short school-readiness assessment administered by a kindergarten teacher as part of the enrollment process.
Enrolling kindergartners must turn 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2016. Parents should bring the child’s birth certificate, the Georgia Immunization Certificate form 3231, the Certificate of Vision, Hearing, Dental and Nutritional Screening form 3300, and proof of current residence, such as a lease agreement or utility bill.
The Georgia Social Security Card is requested for all students, but parents may choose to sign a waiver if they prefer not to give the Social Security number.
Any children entering first grade in the fall who are not currently enrolled in a Hall elementary school should also pre-register during the same period. Such children should turn 6 on or before Sept. 1, 2016.
For more information, parents should call the school in their attendance areas or contact Eloise Barron, the district assistant superintendent for teaching and learning, at 770-534-1080.
