A North Hall man was arrested Friday morning, charged with several counts of weapons and drug violations.

Daniel Brantley Carver Jr., 40, of Gainesville, was arrested on five counts of possession of firearms by a convicted felon, along with charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of alprazolam (Xanax) and several motor vehicle charges, according to a news release from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

The arrest was led by FBI agents acting on a search warrant for Carver’s home on Southers Road. The agents had a federal arrest warrant for firearms violations, according to the sheriff’s office.

Assisting the FBI agents were officers with the Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad, Gainesville-Hall County Gang Task Force, Hall County Sheriff’s Office and agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, tobacco and Firearms, as well as agents with the Forsyth County FBI Safe Streets Task Force.

According to the sheriff’s office, agents with the gang task force had additional warrants for Carver stemming from an incident earlier this week, where Carver allegedly rammed a vehicle in a store parking lot.

The search of the home Friday yielded a small quantity of methamphetamine and alprazolam, according to Hall County Sheriff’s officials. Carver was booked in the Hall County Jail.
