Election season hits full throttle tonight as Republican primary candidates for three Hall County Board of Commissioners seats debate in a forum before early voting kicks off on Monday.
Former Hall commissioner Steve Gailey and former Hall County Board of Education chairman Richard Higgins are vying to replace commission Chairman Richard Mecum, while District 2 incumbent Billy Powell will take on rival Eugene Moon and District 4 incumbent Jeff Stowe will face challenger Troy Phillips.
A meet and greet begins at 6 p.m. and the debate at 6:30 p.m. The event will be at Hall GOP headquarters, 715 Queen City Parkway, Gainesville.
The winner of the District 4 race will face Democrat Angela Middleton in the November general election.
Today is the voter registration deadline for the May 24 primary.
