Gainesville’s busy Green Street will be closed most of Sunday afternoon for the city’s annual Christmas event.
Sgt. Kevin Holbrook of the Gainesville Police Department said the roadway will be closed at around 2:30 p.m. from Enota Avenue to Jesse Jewell Parkway. All side streets will be closed where they intersect Green.
The parade is set to begin at 4:30 p.m., and those attending Christmas on Green Street can then visit businesses on either side of the road.
Businesses will have open houses, refreshments and live music. The Times will offer a photo booth and live press run, among other activities. The event closes with the lighting of the tree at the intersection of Green and Academy streets.
Holbrook said the road will reopen at about 7:30 p.m.
