Gainesville man, 25, drowns in Lake Lanier

A Gainesville man died Monday while swimming in Lake Lanier off Bolding Mill Park in northwest Hall County. Spencer Obe Dye, 25, was swimming with a friend at the park, which is off Chestatee Road, when he “got in trouble (and the) friend pulled him from the water,” said Melissa Cummings, spokeswoman for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The friend then started CPR. Hall County Fire Services also responded to the scene, where emergency workers also tried to revive Dye, Chief David Kimbrell said.
