A Flowery Branch restaurant that billed itself as a “family-oriented” sports bar apparently has closed.
Owner Kaleigh Oxendine also couldn’t be reached for comment.
Flowery Branch City Clerk Melissa McCain said Oxendine “has not communicated with the city about closing, so I don’t know why she is closed. I have sent her a message with no response.”
The restaurant opened in June 2018, with Oxendine having completed an interior makeover.
HomeTown Grill replaced Green’s Tavern, which closed in April 2017 after it was cited by Flowery Branch with alcohol violations.
When Oxendine took over, “there was a big bar at the front of the restaurant, as well as in the back,” she said at the time.
She talked about having to spend months on cosmetic work, repainting and adding new lighting.
“We took out the front bar and made (the atmosphere) more family-friendly, adding more seating ... and TVs,” Oxendine said. “I’m waiting on school banners (to drape) across top of the ceiling.”
A signature item on the menu was the “dirty bird,” a grilled, seasoned chicken breast topped with barbecue sauce, caramelized onions, provolone cheese and pineapple.
