Homeowners can get information to help them keep their homes at an event being held next week in Gainesville by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

Foreclosure prevention and one-on-one counseling services will be offered beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Gainesville Civic Center at 830 Green St.

The services are funded by a federal grant and will be offered by a number of DCA-approved housing counseling agencies. A complete listing of agencies offering foreclosure counseling-related services is available at www.dcaloans.com. Counselors and many organizations involved in the homebuying process are also expected to attend.

In February, DCA was awarded $887,004 in federal funds to support foreclosure prevention counseling efforts. The grant was provided by funds from the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Program.
