On June 11, the members of Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church honored their three World War II veterans: Army Private 1st Class Kennedy Smartt, Army Private 1st Class Dick Batusic and Army Air Force tech Sgt. Doug Dryden. The ladies from Quilts of Valor presented each man with a handmade quilt honoring their service. The quilting team consisted of Rita Clifton, Jenny Granfield, Peggy Johnson and Irene Webb.
