Gainesville native Ashton Blackwood was included in the University of West Georgia’s 2015 “30 Under 30,” an annual recognition program sponsored by the UWG Alumni Association.
The program recognizes 30 alumni under the age of 30 who have made a significant impact in their career industry while exhibiting dedication to UWG and representing the university well.
Blackwood graduated from UWG in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in mass communications. As a legislative assistant for the governor’s office, she works with three senators, including Sen. Butch Miller, R-Gainesville.
To be considered for the 30 Under 30 list, graduates must meet several criteria. Aside from being under the age of 30, they must have made an impact in business, education, leadership, government, research or another area in addition to demonstrating a dedication to the University of West Georgia.
Blackwood is also an active member of the Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County and the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce. She maintains her connection to UWG by serving as an advisory board member to Alpha Xi Delta.
Blackwood is the daughter of James and Shelia Williams of Gainesville and Harris and Allison Blackwood of Gainesville.
