A Brenau University professor has been arrested on child molestation charges for an incident that allegedly occurred at the school, police say.

Gainesville Police arrested Kevin Hollomon, 44 years old of Comer, and charged him with one count of sexual battery and one count of child molestation.

Police responded to the school earlier this week for a report of a sexual battery that occurred at the school, Gainesville Police Sgt. Shawn Welsh said.

Hollomon was arrested Wednesday in White County, Welsh said. He remains in the Hall County Jail.

Hollomon is listed as an assistant professor of biology on Brenau University’s Web site.

“We were aware of the situation and have taken appropriate action,” Brenau Spokesman David Morrison said.

Police have not released information about the victim, because of her age, but police say she was acquainted with Hollomon.
