Gainesville firefighters battle blaze that started from cooking on stove

Firefighters extinguished a blaze Wednesday, May 24, in Gainesville that started with food cooking on the stove, according to authorities.

Gainesville firefighters responded around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 2300 block of Marbleridge Drive, where smoke was emanating from a two-story townhome.

The crews brought the fire under control and stopped it from spreading to the nearby homes.

One woman was displaced, and the American Red Cross was contacted to assist her.
