A Gainesville woman is accused of knocking a man down with her car while her child was inside the vehicle, authorities said.

Victoria Kay Carrera, 24, was arrested July 27 and charged with aggravated assault and third-degree child cruelty.

The alleged incident occurred July 22 on Ray Parks Road in Gainesville.

According to the warrants, authorities believe Carrera assaulted the victim “with a motor vehicle by striking him and knocking him down with the vehicle and then driving the vehicle toward him again placing him in fear of receiving immediate serious bodily injury.”

Authorities also said Carrera’s 4-year-old son was in the vehicle with her when the alleged aggravated assault took place.

The police report for the incident was not available from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad Investigator Joe Amerling said he happened to be at the scene when the incident happened. Amerling said the alleged victim did not suffer major injuries.

According to the warrant, Carrera and the victim lived together.

Carrera was booked into the Hall County Jail, where she remains.
