Where’s the funeral?
Rather than celebrate the return of the film and TV writers with a palette of fun, cheery colors, Hollywood’s starlets made their way to the 80th annual Academy Awards show on Sunday night in a drab collection of frocks.
But there was an exception to the shades of dark, darker and darkest — shocks of red worn by stars such as Anne Hathaway, Heidi Klum, Katherine Heigl and Miley Cyrus. Klum’s dress, designed by John Galliano, will be auctioned off at Mycokerewards.com as part of the Red Dress Program to raise awareness of heart disease in women.
Cyrus, in her cute and age-appropriate dress by Valentino, was among many other stars strutting the red carpet in the last of his designs. Valentino announced his retirement in January, ending an era of luscious Oscar gowns.
But for the most part, the glamour gals stayed dark and subdued — almost as if they were taking their cue from the cloudy, dreary day hanging over Los Angeles.
New mom Jennifer Garner looked stunning in a black Oscar de la Renta number, as did Hilary Swank in Versace. And Nicole Kidman arrived in a chic black gown adorned with a plunging neckline, diamonds and the ultimate arm candy, Keith Urban.
