Emily Carolyn Whitmire and Ryan Jay Smith were united in marriage at 2 p.m. May 5, 2012, at Eagle Ranch in Flowery Branch. The bride is the daughter of Rodney and Kathy Whitmire of Gainesville. The groom is the son of Donald and Heather Smith of Lula.
The Rev. Richard B. Long performed the ceremony. Violist Nancy Swann presented a program of wedding music.
The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride’s sister Beth Looper of Clermont was matron of honor.
The bride’s friend Megan Southard of Gainesville was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the groom’s sister Amy Smith of Gainesville, bride’s friends Emily Presley of Gainesville, Hannah Brown of Gainesville, and Brittnye Carver of Marietta. The bride’s friend Carina Shanks of Gainesville was the flower girl.
The groom’s brother Joshua Wilson of Gainesville was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s brother Corey Smith of Lula, bride’s brother Daniel Whitmire of Gainesville, bride’s brother-in-law Brian Looper of Clermont, groom’s friends Chase Clark of Gainesville, and Justin Whitmire of Gainesville. The groom’s nephew Dawson Gray of Gainesville was the ring bearer.
Carla Cornett and Marie Pirkle were the wedding coordinators. Ashai Hendrix kept the bride’s book.
The bride wore pearls belonging to her grandmother and sapphire earrings, which were a gift from her mother. She carried the groom’s great-grandmother’s pin on the bouquet.
The groom’s parents gave a rehearsal dinner at Mulberry Creek Community Center in Flowery Branch on the eve of the wedding.
The bride and groom gave a reception at Eagle Ranch in Flowery Branch following the ceremony.
Following a honeymoon to the Bahamas, the couple reside in Lula.
