Sara Emily Lathem and Charles Grady Walls were united in marriage at 6 p.m. Dec. 19, 2009, at Chateau Elan in Braselton. The bride is the daughter of David and Lisa Lathem of Maysville. The groom is the son of Chuck and Debbie Walls of Gainesville.
The Rev. Bartlett McMillan performed the ceremony. Pianist William Brent Cochran, saxophonist Robert B. Morgan and trumpeter Jared Timothy Hunt presented a program of wedding music.
The bride was presented in marriage by her parents. The groom’s sister Elyse Vandiver of Gainesville was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s friend Rebecca Karcher of Albany, the bride’s cousin Courtney Gregg of Augusta, the bride’s friends Kassandra Ratowsky of Augusta, Lauren Myer of Atlanta, Elizabeth Marshburn of Atlanta and Shealy Dixon of Camilla. The groom’s cousin Caroline Baston of Gainesville was the junior bridesmaid.
The groom’s father was the best man. Groomsmen were the bride’s brothers Tyler Lathem of Athens and Andrew Lathem of Maysville, the groom’s brother-in-law Blake Vandiver of Gainesville, the groom’s friends Eddie Hunter of Greenville, S.C., Gregg Miller of Charleston, S.C., Harrison Trammell of Charleston, S.C. and Zach Harris of Nashville, Tenn. The groom’s cousin John Baston of Gainesville was the junior groomsman.
Christopher Davidson was the wedding coordinator. Kelly Lathem was a scripture reader.
The bride wore diamond earrings that were a gift from the groom and carried a six pence given to her by her mother.
The groom’s parents gave a rehearsal dinner in the Monte Carlo Room at Chateau Elan on the eve of the wedding.
The bride’s parents gave a reception in the Debussy Ballroom at Chateau Elan following the ceremony.
Following a honeymoon to St. Lucia in the Caribbean, the couple reside in Griffin.
