Mark and Lori Melton of Oakwood announce the engagement of their daughter Shelbie Ann Melton to Ryan Clay Patrick Carroll, son of Kenneth and Martha Carroll of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Marge and the late Arlin Spragg of Hubbard Lake, Mich., and Shirley and the late Ken Melton of Fortville, Ind.

She is a 2006 graduate of West Hall High School in Oakwood. She graduated in 2010 from Gwinnett Technical College with a bachelor’s degree in dental assisting. She is employed as a dental assistant by Dr. Brad Dixon D.M.D. in Gainesville.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Lee and Joanne Carroll of Gainesville, and the late Lavora and Clay DeLong of Oakwood.

He is a 2003 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. He graduated in 2009 from Georgia Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He is employed as a regional account manager by Daisy Brand in Gainesville.

The couple plan to wed April 21, 2012, at Bull Mountain Lodge in Dahlonega.
