Michael and Sandra Emmett of Cumming announce the engagement of their daughter Courtney Brooke Emmett to Matthew Joseph Young, son of Joseph and Judith Young of Cumming

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Bertha Emmett of Gainesville, the late Clarence Emmett and Willis and Hester Jones of Largo, Fla.

She is a 2003 graduate of South Forsyth High School in Cumming. She graduated in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and is pursuing a master's degree in community counseling from the University of West Georgia in Carrollton. She is employed as a social worker in the child and adolescent behavioral health program with Tanner Health Systems in Carrollton.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Alice Crosta of Cumming, the late Tony Crosta and Hardaway and Henrietta Young of Decatur.

He is a 2003 graduate of South Forsyth High School in Cumming. He plans to graduate in May 2009 from the University of West Georgia in Carrollton with a bachelor's degree in music education. He is executive director of NGI Frequency in Newnan.

The couple plan to wed May 29, 2009, at Primrose Cottage in Roswell.
