Humane Society of Jackson County to host night of dinner and dancing with Fur Ball

Dinner, dancing, live music and award-winning bulldog, Annabelle, are part of the annual fundraising Fur Ball.

Presented by the Humane Society of Jackson County, the event will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at the Jefferson Civic Center at 65 Kissam St. in downtown Jefferson.

The featured guest will be Annabelle, a recent winner of Best in Non-Sporting group at the 140th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. She will be accompanied by her owner and handler, Kelly Franz.

Ball patrons may partake of a champagne reception with hors d’oeuvres and a buffet dinner.

Entertainment will be provided by The Margins, an improv group from Athens; the Way Back Band playing music from the 1960s; and DJs Jon and Jane Fisher.

In between dining and dancing, participants may bid on silent auction items from around the world and some heirloom items, too. Other items will be raffled off and door prizes will be given away.

Tickets are $60 and can be purchased at the door or online at hsjc.com. IDs will be checked for alcohol purchases.

All proceed from the Fur Ball will benefit the HSJC’s rescue programs, subsidized spay/neuter, pet food assistance, as well as our soon-to-be shelter.
