Let out your inner canine Sunday at the Lumpkin County Humane Society's inaugural Bark in the Park.

The 5K and family fair will include lots of activities for both the two- and four-legged variety.

Bark in the Park's two-part event starts Sunday with a 5K walk — with or without your dog — to raise funds and awareness for Lumpkin County's only no-kill shelter.

Registration for the 5K at Yahoola Reservoir starts at 7 a.m. with step-off at 8.

Once you've finished the walk, head over to Hancock Park in downtown Dahlonega for free goody bags, contests throughout the day, a silent auction, raffles, food, canine dancing and more.

There will be a vet visit hosted by Red Barn Veterinarian Hospital, grooming and tips from 1000 Acre Wood Pet Boutique & Spa and obedience training sessions hosted by Atlanta Dog Training. Pet photos by Kim Broxton and sketches of your pet by North Georgia College & State University art students will also be offered.

Cats are not allowed, but you can choose a free pin, or bring a photo and create one, to let everyone know you are walking in his or her honor.

The fun at Hancock begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. For more information about the event, visit online or call 706-864-2817.
