North Hall’s volleyball program will have some time to relish winning its fourth straight Area 7-3A championship. Then it’s back to work.
On Saturday, the Lady Trojans beat Dawson County in the championship 25-11, 25-20, 25-15 to earn the top spot to state, which will begin with a first-round match Oct. 19 in Gainesville.
The Area championship ensures a second round match will also be at North Hall, if it advances.
“I’m so proud of our team,” North Hall coach Emi Hughes said. “We had great leadership from our seniors and had just a fantastic day all around.”
Playing on their home court, the Lady Trojans needed to beat Dawson County twice to earn bragging rights in Area 7-3A. After a 25-14, 26-24 win against East Hall to open the day, North Hall beat Dawson County for the first time (25-19, 25-20).
Senior Grace Hollifield was the catalyst for the Lady Trojans, finishing with 24 kills, two aces and four blocks. Maci Gillespie finished with 41 assists, five kills and six digs.
Also for North Hall, Madison Brock had eight kills, four aces and 26 digs, while Alexandria Bryant chipped in 13 digs.
Mackenzie Crisp had eight kills, two blocks and a pair of aces for the Lady Trojans, while Lexi Martin added 28 digs and three aces. Sarah Davidson had seven kills and a blocked shot for North Hall.
The first-round opponent for the Lady Trojans is still to be determined.
