Prep scoreboard: Goalkeeper saves East Hall

Ricardo Llamas made a game-winning save in the penalty kick round for the Vikings in their 1-0 (4-3 PK) win over Johnson on Friday night in Gainesville.

The game was decided on penalty kicks after being scoreless in regulation and overtime. Victor Caramillo, Nikko Andrade and Jesus Castrejon each scored on penalty kicks with Valentin Villa scoring the eventual game-winning goal for East Hall (6-2, 3-1 Region 7A-AAA).

With a 4-3 lead in the shootout, Llamas stopped Johnson’s Daniel Abarca’s shot to seal the win for the Vikings.

East Hall travels to Hart County at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Knights (4-4, 4-2 Region 7B-AAA) travel to Allen Creek Soccer Complex at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to play Winder-Barrow in the Northeast Georgia Mountain Cup.

Flowery Branch boys 5, North Hall 2

Kyle Ellis led the Falcons with two goals in their win over North Hall on Friday in Gainesville.

Steven Brett, Michael Smith and Philip Abrahamsen each scored one goal for Flowery Branch (8-0, 4-0 Region 7-AAA).

The Falcons travel to Forsyth Central at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The Trojans travel to Gilmer at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

 Buford girls 4, Greater Atlanta Christian 3 

Katie Garth scored the go-ahead goal for the Lady Wolves late in the second half of a evenly-matched game to defeat Greater Atlanta Christian on Friday night in Buford.

Justine Clay led Buford (5-1-1, 3-0 Region 6A-AA) with a goal and two assists. Maria Petroni and Haley Holderfield each scored a goal for the Lady Wolves.

Sammy Abrahart led the Spartans with two goals.

The Lady Wolves travel to Allen Creek Soccer Complex at 5:30 p.m. Monday to play West Hall in the Northeast Georgia Mountain Cup.

TENNIS

West Hall girls 3, Pickens 2 (Thursday)

Kaylin Walters and Chelsea Britt picked up wins for the Spartans (3-2) against the Dragons on Thursday.

West Hall’s No. 1 doubles team, Alex Wright and Ali Parham won 6-4, 6-4 against the Dragons’ Anna Morris and Mary Alice Jasperse.

North Hall boys 4, Gilmer 1 (Thursday)

Jim Butts and Mikey Franze won at No. 1 doubles, and Joe Nedza and Jack Hortenstine won at No. 2 doubles for the Trojans (3-3, 2-1 Region 7A-AAA) on Thursday in Ellijay. Eli LoCiero (No. 2 singles) and Mitch McCray (No. 3 singles) also picked up wins for the Trojans.

North Hall girls 3, Gilmer 2 (Thursday)

The Lady Trojans’ doubles pairs of Lauren Bolton/Courtney Wiley and Rachel Langman/Jessica Butts won en route to victory over the Bobcats on Thursday night in Ellijay. North Hall’s (7-0, 4-0 Region 7A-AAA) Hayley Crowder picked up the win at No. 2 singles 7-6, (7-5), 6-3.

North Hall plays host to Chestatee at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

BASEBALL

New Creation 4, Westminster Christian 3 (Thursday)

Westminster’s Nate Harris pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed one run on Thursday night.

Westminster visits Loganville Christian on March 11.
