Montgomery notches a career-high 32 points for Lakeview boys

Austin Montgomery scored a career-high 32 points for Lakeview Academy (11-3, 5-0 Region 8A-A) in a 72-59 win against Athens Academy on Friday night in Watkinsville. Seniors Austin Pearson scored 17 points and Matt Askounis finished with 10 for the Lions.

Leading 50-45 after the third quarter, Lakeview Academy outscored the Spartans 22-14 in the fourth.

Lakeview Academy hosts George Walton Academy at 7:30 p.m. tonight. 

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 41, ATHENS ACADEMY 24: Kaylee McClendon led the Lady Lions (8-6, 3-2 Region 8A-A) with nine points Friday night in Watkinsville.

Lakeview Academy hosts George Walton Academy 6 p.m. today. 

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 51, HABERSHAM CENTRAL 41: Jacy Ramey led the Lady Falcons (10-6, 3-0 Region 8A-AAAA) with 16 points, 10 rebounds and five steals Friday night in Mount Airy. Senior Cara Chilton finished with 10 points for Flowery Branch.

Junior Haley Gerrin led the Lady Raiders with a game-high 28 points.

The Lady Falcons visit Loganville at 4 p.m. today.

WALNUT GROVE BOYS 72, JOHNSON 56: Matt Hollis led the Knights (7-10, 0-5 Region 8B-AAA) with a game-high 29 points Friday night in Oakwood. Junior Montrell McKenzie scored 13 points and pulled down 32 rebounds, a new school record for Johnson.

Johnson hosts Lumpkin County 7:30 p.m. tonight in Oakwood.

BUFORD GIRLS 51, GREATER ATLANTA CHRISTIAN 45: Kristina Nelson led the Lady Wolves (10-5, 6-0 Region 6A-AA) by scoring 16 points Friday in Norcross. Kaela Davis scored 14 points and Kallie Case finished with 10 for Buford.

Leading 33-31 after three quarters, the Lady Wolves outscored the Lady Spartans 17-14 in the fourth.

Buford faces Alpharetta at 3 p.m. today at Wesleyan in Norcross.

NORTH HALL BOYS 52, WHITE COUNTY 47: Ebo Smith led the Trojans (14-3, 3-0 Region 8A-AAA) with 21 points Friday night in Cleveland. Adam Kelly finished with 16 points for North Hall.

Eddie Hurst led the Warriors by scoring 12 points and Andrew London chipped in 11.

The Trojans visit Franklin County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Carnesville.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 51, WHITE COUNTY 46: McKenna Rushton led the Lady Trojans (11-5, 2-0 Region 8A-AAA) with a game-high 17 points Friday night in Cleveland. Mary Kate Rushton scored 14 points and Taylor Swoszowski finished with 13 for North Hall.

Cassie Carter led the Lady Warriors with 13 points and Jayme Whitfield finished with 10.

The Lady Trojans visit Franklin County at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in Carnesville.

EAST HALL BOYS 87, KODIAK (ALASKA) 65: Vikings senior guard J.C. Hampton finished with 22 points with three assists in a first-round victory on Thursday night at the Alaska Airlines Classic at West High in Anchorage, Alaska. Brian Edwards scored 17 for East Hall and Milton Whelchel scored 11.

Tied 16-16 after the first period, the Vikings outscored Kodiak 32-11 in the second quarter. Hayden Chapman scored 10 points for East Hall, and T.D. Teasley had eight points and 10 rebounds.

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN GIRLS 42, CUMBERLAND 36: Julianne Sutton led the Lady Chargers (7-1) with 13 points Friday night in Gainesville. Jordan Ball chipped in 11 points and Kayla Goodson finished with 10 for North Georgia Christian.

The Lady Chargers host Grace Baptist Friday.

DAWSON COUNTY BOYS 55, FANNIN COUNTY 17: Jackson Putnam led the Tigers (14-4, 1-2 Region 8A-AA) with a game-high 11 points Friday night in Dawsonville. Jonathan Sanderson and Tyler Dominy each added 10 a piece for Dawson County.

The Tigers visit Union County at 8:30 p.m. Friday in Blairsville.

DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 62, FANNIN COUNTY 30: Carly Gilreath led the Lady Tigers (10-8, 1-2 Region 8A-AA) in scoring with 16 points Friday night in Dawsonville. Freshman Ashley Parker made all six of her free throws to finish with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Dawson County.

The Lady Tigers visit Union County at 7 p.m. Friday in Blairsville.
