Lady Falcons win in penalty kicks

With two big plays in the shootout, keeper Lauren Dunn saved the game for the Flowery Branch girls soccer team Tuesday as they defeated West Forsyth, 2-1.

Cassidy Elrod scored the only goal for Flowery Branch in regulation and with the score tied at 1-1 at the end of the overtime period, the two teams headed into penalty kicks.

Morgan Glenn and Ali Wellborn each converted their penalty kicks for Flowery Branch.

Dunn made two big saves and West Forsyth sailed two attempts high over the crossbar to give the Lady Falcons the win.

Despite earning the victory, the Lady Falcons were eliminated from the state playoff contention on Tuesday with the Gainesville girls win over West Hall.

Flowery Branch (10-7, 7-4 Region 7-AAA) completes its season when it plays host to Pope at 7:30 tonight.

WEST FORSYTH BOYS 3, FLOWERY BRANCH 0:
The Falcons failed to score a goal on Tuesday at West Forsyth.

Flowery Branch (7-10, 5-6 Region 7-AAA) plays host to Pope at 5:30 p.m. today to complete its season.
