High school basketball: Chestatee boys topped by Denmark in the semifinals of Region 7-4A tournament
Chestatee's Kyle Bowmar launches a 3-point attempt during the semifinals of the Region 7-4A tournament on Thursday in Flowery Branch.

Brenton Nicholson scored 6 points on back-to-back 3s in the fourth quarter to lead Chestatee in scoring, but the Danes brought a bit too much firepower for the War Eagles to handle, as they fell 64-24 in the Region 7-4A tournament second-round matchup.

Chestatee attempted to slow the game down early on, dribbling out much of the clock in the opening quarter and waiting for wide open shots while controlling possession of the ball. The War Eagles trailed just 8-7 after eight minutes, but Denmark blew the game wide open from there.

The Danes outscored Chestatee 17-2 in the second quarter, and never looked back as they rolled to the win.

With the loss, the War Eagles will take on Marist at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, and will have a road playoff game to start the Class 4A tournament.
