Hall County Sports Television releases yearly honors

Hall County Sports Television and North Georgia Video Productions named its top teams, athletes and coaches of the 2008-2009 school year Thursday on its weekly show.

Male Athlete of the Year honors went to Flowery Branch High grad Daniel Drummond. Kiara McCue-Woods, also of Flowery Branch, earned Female Athlete of the Year for her efforts in cross country and track and field.

Woods' cross county and track coach, Jimmy Sorrells, was named Male Coach of the Year. North Hall girls soccer coach Nathan Wallace was named Female Coach of the Year.

Wallace's Lady Trojans were also named Female Team of the Year. The Flowery Branch football team was awarded Male Team of the Year.

Finalists for Team of the Year were the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club, Flowery Branch girls cross country team, Gainesville girls basketball team, West Hall boys soccer team and Gainesville boys basketball team.

Coach of the Year Finalists were Gainesville basketball coaches Manson Hill and Todd Cottrell, Flowery Branch girls cross country coach Charlie Patterson and West Hall boys soccer coach Wolfgang Jager.

Finalists for Athlete of the Year were competitive weightlifter Tyler Brown, Flowery Branch wrestler Danny Bell and Gainesville girls basketball player Jaymee Carnes.
