Heading into the final week of the regular season, all three area teams ranked in The Associated Press Georgia Prep Football Poll maintained their spots with wins last Friday.
Unbeaten Gainesville dismantled Johnson, 63-0, on Friday and remains the unanimous No. 1 in Class AAA. The Red Elephants can wrap up their second straight Region 7-AAA title with a win over Flowery Branch this week.
Meanwhile, North Hall, which came in among others receiving votes again in this week's poll, will be rooting for a Flowery Branch victory. A Falcons win would give North Hall the region title and make Gainesville the No. 3 seed heading into the postseason.
In Class AA, Buford, which knocked Westminster from the top 10 with a 21-0 win on Friday, remains at No. 3. The Wolves have won six straight, posting five shutouts and allowing only seven points in that span.
Jefferson, coming off a 20-6 win over North Oconee, is still at No. 7. The Dragons, who haven't lost a region game since moving up to 8-AA last season, will play host to East Jackson this week with the region championship at stake.
