West Hall recorded its first win of the season, beating Walnut Grove 38-9 on Friday night in Loganville.

West Hall was led by quarterback Chandler Newton, who was 7 of 12 passing for 211 yards and three touchdowns. Newton also rushed for 59 yards and a score on 14 carries.

A.J. Stephens caught two passes and scored on both, on catches of 62 and 45 yards for the Spartans. On the ground, he had 18 carries for 80 yards and a touchdown.

The West Hall defense allowed only one touchdown and a 30-yard field goal.

The Spartans (1-4, 1-0 Region 8-AAA) host Johnson on Friday.
