The State Schools of Character program has named West Hall Middle School as the 2009 Georgia School of Character.

The program is an extension of the national effort to promote outstanding work in character education.

West Hall Middle Principal Sarah Justus said the middle school began participating in the program in 2006. Justus said with the state designation, the school is now eligible to participate in the National Schools of Character competition.
