Two people were taken to the hospital in serious condition after an early Sunday head-on collision between two vehicles in Gainesville.

The wreck took place about 7 a.m. at the intersection of E.E. Butler Parkway and Chestnut Street, Gainesville Fire Department spokesman Keith Smith said.

The injured were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, he said.

Gainesville Police is handling the accident.
