A new free-standing Starbucks has opened off Mundy Mill Road in Oakwood.

The 1,850-square-foot coffee shop is in what used to be a parking area between Burger King and Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants.

Construction started in April on the business in the Merchants Crossing Shopping Center at 3707 Mundy Mill Road off Interstate 985.

The developer, Atlanta-based Skyline Seven Real Estate, deferred comment to Starbucks officials, who couldn’t be reached for comment.
