If you’ve been wondering about something in your community, Ask The Times is your place to get answers. The following questions were submitted by readers and answered through the efforts of our news staff.

Can you tell me what kind of work is being done on Bradford Street in front of Applied Images?

Workers are replacing an old storm pipe which had become blocked, said Stanley Aiken, senior civil engineer with the Gainesville public works department.

“This created a void beneath the sidewalk, so the sidewalk was removed, backfilled and replaced,” he said.

Workers have directed motorists around the repairs, which have forced the closure of lane of traffic close to busy Academy Street.

Depending on weather and material availability, the project should be completed by Friday, Aiken said.
