Ask The Times: No expansion planned for Cool Springs Park
Playground equipment has been installed at Cool Springs Park but Hall County has yet to complete the project with mulching and safety fencing around the area.

If you’ve been wondering about something in your community, Ask The Times is your place to get answers. The following questions were submitted by readers and answered through the efforts of our news staff.

What is the status of Cool Springs Park?

The grand opening of Cool Springs park was in March of 2013 and currently there are no plans for any expansion on the park, located at 5579 Cool Springs Road in northwest Hall County.

The park covers about 75 acres of land and has three baseball/softball fields, a concession/restroom building and now a playground area.

Recently, the Parks and Leisure Department has repurposed a playground that was originally at the Hall County Sheriff’s Office South Hall Precinct, which was formerly a day care facility until the county repurposed it. Installation of the equipment is almost complete at Cool Springs, according to Hall County spokeswoman Katie Crumley.

Even though there were talks of a “master plan” that would include adding a skateboard park, lake pavilions and tennis courts, there is no timeline for the construction of these.

There is some designated funding from special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST VII) that would go toward paving the parking lot if SPLOST is approved by voters in March, Crumley said.
