North Georgia College & State University ends a lecture series tonight with a look at childhood obesity, presented by Elaine Taylor, associate professor of nursing.

“Childhood obesity is a problem many families are dealing with now,” NGCSU spokeswoman Kate Maine said. “We haven’t seen that presented locally, and we thought it would be an interest to the community.”

Childhood obesity has more than tripled in the last 30 years, according to the Center for Chronic Disease Prevention.

The free lecture is presented 6:30-8:30 p.m. today at the Gainesville Civic Center.

The lecture also is presented Wednesday at the Hampton Park Library in Cumming and Thursday at the university in Dahlonega.
