Downed power lines cause outages in North Hall

Power lines are down and service out in several areas in North Hall County, Hall County officials say.

Areas affected are in the Sardis Road and Southers Road areas. Several transformers have blown, power is out in the area and a traffic light is affected, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Nicole Bailes said.

The power lines down are hot and considered dangerous. Residents are urged to be cautious around them and avoid the area.

Fire Marshal Scott Cagle said in an email sent at 9:20 p.m. that crews estimate it to take three to five hours to restore power.

Georgia Power crews were working on new lines in the Sardis Road area when the incident occurred, though the cause of the outage is unknown. Jackson EMC and Georgia Power crews are on the scene.
