The metro Gainesville’s unemployment rate fell to 6.8 percent in March, down one-tenth of a percentage point from 6.9 percent in February, the Georgia Department of Labor announced today. The area's rate, which includes all of Hall County, was 7.7 percent in March a year ago. The rate declined because the number of people unemployed decreased to 6,183, down by 64 from 6,247 in February, the DOL said.
