Three people were killed Saturday evening in White County in two separate one-vehicle accidents, Georgia State Patrol officials reported.

The first accident killed two people riding on a motorcycle on Ga. Alternate 75 traveling west around 7 p.m. The driver lost control in a curve and struck a tree, with both riders ejected. Philip Norwood, 59, and Jane Norwood, 50, both of Canton, were both pronounced dead at the scene, state patrol said.

The second wreck occurred on Town Creek Road around 9:45 p.m. Cleveland resident Lance David Artis, 30, lost control of his 1997 Audi A4 while negotiating a left curve. The car crossed the center line and continued off the west shoulder, striking an embankment, state patrol said, and overturned several times.

The driver, who was traveling alone, was ejected. He was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
