The Ninth District Opportunity's Hall County Butler Head Start program in Gainesville is one of the first early childhood programs to earn accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. To earn accreditation in this system, the Butler Head Start program went through a self-study process. The program received this accreditation after an on-site visit by National Association for the Education of Young Children assessors. Programs accredited by this organization are also subject to unannounced visits during their accreditation, which lasts five years.
