Students taking advanced-placement history classes at Gainesville High School recently took a trip to Boston. the trip included a tour of the Freedom Trail, tours of Boston, Lexington and Salem, Mass., watching a hockey game at Northeastern University and seeing the USS Constitution. The 40 students also stayed in the hotel where newly elected Sen. Scott Brown was headquartered for his recent election, and many students were able to attend his victory party. Abbey Victoria Williams, a student at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, was recently inducted as president of the Kappa Delta Pi honor society. Williams is the daughter of Philip and Ann Williams of Gainesville.



Matthew S. Jones of Buford has recently been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2009 semester at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C.



Cameron Scott Neal of Gainesville has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 209 semester at North Greenville University in Tigerville, S.C. To qualify for this honor, students must maintain a 3-5 grade-point average while taking at least 12 credit hours.



Branden Jovaag of Gainesville, was recently named to the dean’s list for the fall 2009 semester at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta. He is the son of Brad and Pam Jovaag.
