Students in Johnson High School’s Interact Club recently presented checks to the Gainesville Rotary club’s president, Rick Boyd, and youth liaison, Hank Tanner, for the Polio Plus program and the Life Straws program. The 50 club members volunteer locally to raise funds to be used globally, with both of these programs furthering that cause. Michelle L. Salmon, Heather R. Denny, Jessica M. Denny and Donna R. Rich, all of Gainesville, have recently been named to the academic achievement list at Georgia Southwestern State University for the fall 2009 semester. To be eligible for this honor, students must earn a grade-point average of at least 3.5.
Also, Salmon and Rich recently graduated from Georgia Southwestern, located in Americus.



Morgan E. White of Braselton was recently named to the dean’s honor roll for the fall 2009 semester at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kan. To be eligible for this honor, students must earn at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.



Anna Bower, daughter of Mr. Tom Bower, and Lydia Jacobs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Jacobs, all of Gainesville, have been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2009 semester at Furman University in Greenville, S.C. To be eligible for this honor, students must earn a 3.4 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale.


Chelsea N. Sirard of Gainesville was recently named to the dean’s list at Darton College in Albany for the fall 2009 semester. To be eligible for this honor, students must be full time and earn a 3.4 or higher GPA.



Kelly Michelle Jackson of Gainesville was recently named to the dean’s list at Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon for the fall 2009 semester. To be eligible for this honor, students must earn a 3.6 GPA or higher while taking 12 or more credits.



Griffin Edward Jones of Gainesville recently graduated from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.  He is the son of Edward and Joyce Jones and grandson of Jackie and the late Cecil Jones and Lynn and Earle Darby.



Cathy Hackaday Clayton of Cumming and Michael C. Hughes of Blairsville have recently graduated from Excelsior College in Albany, NY.
