Navy Seaman recruits John B. Carr, a 2009 graduate of East Jackson High School in Commerce, and Jordan L. Linder, a 2008 graduate of Mill Creek High School in Hoschton, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.
During the eight-week program, their training included firefighting, water safety and survival and shipboard and aircraft safety. The capstone event of boot camp is Battle Stations, an exercise that trains recruits in sacrifice, dedication, teamwork and endurance.

Air Force Airman Ryan M. McCanna graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Brad McCanna of Flowery Branch.

Eric J. Nunnally, son of Teresa T. Melton of Cleveland, recently enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps under the Delayed Entry Program with Marine Corps Recruiting Station in Columbia, S. C.
The program allows recruits to enter the Marine Corps and take up to one year to complete prior commitments such as high school. Using recruiters as mentors, this program helps recruits ease into the transition from civilian to military life. Nunnally is a 2006 graduate of Stratford High School of Goose Creek, S.C.
