Jaemor Farms’ annual U-pick strawberries event is coming 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 4, in Alto for its sixth year. The farm’s only U-pick event of the year gives guests the opportunity to roam its strawberry fields and fill a 1 gallon tub full of fresh strawberries for $16.

Caroline Lewallen, agritourism and marketing coordinator at Jaemor, said they’re hoping for thousands to show up as long as the weather cooperates.

Storms are in the forecast for Saturday, but Lewallen said plans haven’t been made to reschedule the event should weather interfere.

Jaemor started growing strawberries in 2010 and the fruit’s popularity has been growing ever since. Jaemor has around 20 acres of strawberry fields now.

The event will also offer hayrides, a petting zoo and farm games along with fresh strawberry waffles in the market.
