This holiday season, Fernbank Museum of Natural History features several ways to celebrate. The museum’s holiday programming includes the annual Winter Wonderland: Celebrations & Traditions Around the World exhibition, a Winter Wonderland Celebration Day and Holly Jolly Film Fest, to name a few.
The fourth annual Winter Wonderland exhibition will kick off the holiday season Nov. 22. More than 30 festive trees will be decorated by cultural partners reflecting traditions and holidays celebrated by cultures everywhere. Cultures highlighted in the exhibition will be from North America, South America, Africa, Europe, The Caribbean, Mediterranean and Middle East.
The Holiday exhibition will run until Jan. 5.
On Saturday, the Winter Wonderland Celebration Day will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families can enjoy a special day of cultural and holiday-themed performances and activities inspired by Winter Wonderland.
The holiday season fun starts Nov. 30 and runs through Dec. 21 with the Holly Jolly Film Fest. Hosted by Santa-saurus. Favorite holiday films will be shown in Fernbank’s auditorium theater.
The festival includes film screenings, holiday-themed crafts, giveaways, a Dinosaur Dance Party with Radio Disney, and a chance to take a picture with the holly-jollyest dinosaur of all, Santa-saurus.
Screenings will be at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturdays from Nov. 30 to Dec. 21. Films to be shown are:
* Nov. 30: A Charlie Brown Christmas
* Dec. 7: How the Grinch Stole Christmas
* Dec. 14: The Year Without Santa Claus
* Dec. 21: A Charlie Brown Christmas
All Winter Wonderland activities are included with museum admission and are free for members. Museum admission is $17.50 for adults, $16.50 for students and seniors, $15.50 for children ages 3 to 12, free for children ages 2 and younger, and free for museum members.
