Ever wanted to have your art on more than just canvas? How about on a bottle — by the hundreds?
Serenity Cellars is holding the 2011 New Vogh Label Art Contest and is seeking entries from area artists.
Artwork in the style of Vincent van Gogh is sought to become the third in the Artist's Series of labels for the Serenity Cellars 2011 New Vogh, a Beaujolais Nouveau style wine traditionally released in November.
Paintings should be done on a 12.5-inch by 20-inch canvas and submitted to the Yonah Mountain Vineyards tasting room in Sautee by Sept. 1.
Entries will be displayed at Crush Fest on Sept. 3, which will be held at Yonah Mountain Vineyards near Cleveland. Festivalgoers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite artwork.
The winner of the New Vogh Label Art Contest will receive a cash prize of $150 plus a case of Serenity Cellars 2011 New Vogh.
The label art for the 2009 and 2010 New Vogh vintages was created by James Williams of Cleveland and Deb Collins of Hiawassee, respectively.
Crush Fest is a daylong celebration of Yonah Mountain Vineyards second grape harvest. The festival is held at the vineyard, which is a 197-acre estate in the heart of Northeast Georgia's wine country, 5 miles northeast of Cleveland in White County.
Crush Fest features grape stomping a' la Lucille Ball, horse-drawn wagon tours of the vineyard, tours of the winery and Georgia's only wine cave, barrel samples and wine tasting.
