Suwanee rolls out the music, fun

Suwanee Day, the Gwinnett town's annual "celebration of community" festival, is set for Sept. 17  at Town Center Park.

The festival begins with the 10 a.m. parade, with Miss Georgia Kaylin Reque as grand marshal. It runs until 10 p.m. with arts and crafts, food and rides for youngsters. Live music on the Town Center stage includes an 8:15 p.m. performance by "The Lovin' Spoonful."

Off-site parking will be available at several locations with free shuttle service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Parking will be offered at Shadowbrook Baptist Church, 4187 Suwanee Dam Road; Shawnee North Business Center, 305 Shawnee North Drive (at Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road); and Southeastern Freight, 3655 Windsor Park Drive, near the intersection of Buford Highway and McGinnis Ferry Road.

Food donations will be accepted until 8 p.m. for the North Gwinnett Food Co-op.
