While some musicians and singers perform for the feeling on stage, others do it for a higher purpose.

Such is the reason for the Songwriters in the Round event, titled Music for Missions.

Sponsored by Gospel Missions Now, the Jan. 16 concert will raise funds for mission work.

Areas songwriters Ken Forrester, Doug Harrell, James Corbin, Keren Leppo and Debra Lynn Rodriguez will play from 7-9 p.m. at the Martha Hope Cabin, 538 Prior St., in Gainesville.

Tickets are $20 in advance. Seating is limited.
